In efforts to be compliant with British Columbia employment standards Ameego will be making some changes to the weekly overtime calculation for locations in British Columbia.
According to the National Payroll Institute and the British Columbia employment standards, BC's weekly overtime accumulation starts from Sunday and ends on the following Saturday.
For more information about this legislation, please visit this link to the BC government employment standards page regarding overtime pay: https://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/employment-business/employment-standards-advice/employment-standards/hours/overtime-pay
What this means for you if your location is in British Columbia
If the first day of the week in Ameego is already on Sunday, then you will not see any difference.
If your first day of the week is not Sunday, then you will see a difference as to when weekly overtime will apply. If you wish to verify the weekly overtime in Ameego we suggest that you use the Labour Summary Intel report where you can set a date range for the report rather than using 2 weekly reports.
Other areas of Ameego that will be affected by the week OT calculation change are One Touch and the Weekly Overtime Watch.
- One Touch will not assign a shift to an employee if it causes daily or weekly overtime.
- The Weekly Overtime Watch on the Ameego Dashboard will list any employees that are at risk of incurring weekly OT based on their past actual shifts and their upcoming scheduled shifts. This will now be based on the week starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday for weekly overtime calculation.
If you and your team feel that it would be easier to reconcile your locations weekly overtime by changing your week start day to Sunday in Ameego, then please contact our Ameego support team and they would be happy to make that change for you.
